Work will start in October on a 50,000 sq ft trade counter scheme in Merseyside as Liverpool developer Redsun appoints a main contractor. Tony McDonough reports
Liverpool developer Redsun Projects has appointed a main contractor to deliver a 50,000 sq ft trade counter development in Merseyside.
In April, Redsun secured planning consent for the scheme, called Knowsley Hub, located on Knowsley Industrial Estate and has now appointed Triton Construction to start work in October. It completed the acquisition of the three-acre site from Knowsley Council earlier this year.
Designed and project-managed by C4 Projects, the development comprises seven units ranging in size from 8,000 sq ft up to 10,000 sq ft. The wider team includes Muir Consulting as engineeingr consultant and UCML as utilities consultant.
Nick Wightman, director at Redsun Projects, said: “We have made sound progress at Knowsley. Vacancy levels in the area are at an all-time low, further demonstrated by the high level of enquiries we’ve received. Working with Triton, we’re aiming to make a start on site in October with completion due for April next year.”
Avison Young and B8 Real Estate are joint letting agents for the scheme. A pre-let has already been agreed with Howdens Joinery for 10,000 sq ft accommodation.
Also in April, Redsun completed a multi-million pound industrial scheme in Wirral and secured two new tenants for the site. Magazine Point, on Wirral International Business Park in Bromborough, comprises 55,000 sq ft of light industrial space.
Chris Quinn, regional director at Triton, added: “This marks the first project that we have worked on with Redsun. Over the last 16 years, we have built a solid reputation in constructing high quality industrial schemes across the north for our clients and we look forward to delivering Knowsley Hub to the same excellent standard.”
