Reid and Carragher unveil new Hillsborough memorial at Dixie Dean hotel
Memorial, which includes 96 candles to remember all of those who lost their lives at the 1989 disaster, is positioned in the city centre hotel’s reception area
Former Everton hero Peter Reid and Liverpool star Jamie Carragher have unveiled a new Hillsborough memorial at Liverpool’s Dixie Dean Hotel.
The memorial, which includes 96 candles to remember all of those who lost their lives at the 1989 disaster, is positioned in the hotel’s reception area. It follows an identical memorial in the Shankly Hotel which sits opposite the new Dixie Dean development on Victoria Street.
Peter, also a World Cup star for England, said: “The memorial is a touching tribute from Signature Living and the Dixie Dean Hotel. I am proud to have helped unveil it with Jamie Carragher.”
Lawrence Kenwright, founder of Signature Living, owner of both hotels, added: “We are a city which loves football and Hillsborough left a mark on football fans from both sides of Stanley Park.
“It is important that we incorporated this memorial in the Dixie Dean, just like we did at the Shankly Hotel. Both hotels will always give a warm welcome to those affected by that terrible tragedy.”
