Wirral medtech firm Jones AV secures six-figure growth loan from River Capital to support European expansion and create new jobs amid a £4.5m contract win. Tony McDonough reports

River Capital, has provided a six-figure growth loan to Jones AV, the Birkenhead-based operating theatre integration specialist.

This cash injection, via River Capital’s North West Business Growth Loan Fund, will support the company’s continued international expansion and strengthen its working capital as it delivers a record volume of projects.

It follows Jones AV’s largest contract win to date – a four-year framework agreement to deliver operating theatre integration across southern Norway, covering up to 40 operating theatres and worth in excess of £4.5m.

Founded in 2008, Jones AV designs and installs integration technology for hospital operating theatres through its MyOR software platform, working with hospitals and health trusts across the UK and Europe.

The new funding will help the business manage the working capital demands of its growing project pipeline as it scales to meet increased demand.

It is the second time River Capital has backed Jones AV following a previous six-figure funding package in 2024 that helped the company deliver a theatre integration project at Drammen Hospital in Norway and expand its in-house software development team.

Since then, Jones AV has achieved B Corp certification, been recognised among the UK’s Top 100 Best Places to Work, and added other accreditations and certifications.

Managing director Ingo Aicher said: “This funding comes at exactly the right moment for us. Winning the South Norway framework is the biggest contract in our history, and this support gives us the working capital headroom to deliver it properly.

“River Capital has backed us since 2024 and having a funding partner who understands how project-led businesses like ours actually work has made a real difference.”

As a result of this investment the firm will create up to seven new jobs. It plans to relocate to larger premises to expand its office, workshop and warehouse capacity and support its next phase of growth.
