Capsule of Culture, sponsored by MJ Quinn, will commemorate 2020, one of the most pivotal and poignant years in world history, inside a time capsule which will be permanently displayed inside the Liverpool waterfront iconic building.

Celebrities, as well the as the public and schools and community leaders, will decide on content for the capsule. People are being asked to submit their ideas to commemorate the landmark moments of the year.

Peter Johnson-Treherne from Royal Liver Building 360, said: “The time capsule will mark the closing of one decade and the opening of a new one and will commemorate what has been one of the most significant years in world history.

“The Black Lives Matter movement, the devastating bushfires in Australia and of course the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown which engulfed the world mean that 2020 will be forever remembered. We’ve also bore witness to Brexit and ‘Megxit’, the 75th anniversary of VE Day and we’ve rightfully celebrated our frontline workers in ways that we have never done before.

“It has been a pressing, pivotal and poignant year in so many ways and we’ve still got a quarter of the year remaining including what could be the most consequential presidential election in US history.

“In many ways it has been a year which we have pulled together and there are so many examples of incredible gestures from the people of Liverpool who’ve helped us all pull through.”
