Royal seal of approval for Merseyside manufacturing

International team at PSL receive official recognition for hard work and innovation.

On Friday 30th September 2016, Powder Systems Ltd. (PSL) one of the UK’s leading pharmaceutical process engineering companies, welcomed officials from the Merseyside Lieutenancy. The dignitaries included Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant, Dame Lorna Muirhead DBE and The High Sheriff of Merseyside, Mr James Davies OBE, who presented PSL with two awards from the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise.

PSL are delighted to receive these two honours, being awarded the Queen’s Award for Innovation and also International Trade. PSL was one of the six small and medium sized companies to achieve the double recognition.

It was 17 years ago when PSL won the Queen’s Award for Export Achievement and these new awards confirm PSL’s international strategy as sustainable and successful. Winning a Queen’s Award for Enterprise is a huge achievement for a business – particularly in a special year, as we celebrate H.M. The Queen’s 90th birthday.

Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant, Dame Lorna Muirhead DBE, said:

“The Award is a prestigious honour for a company to receive and demonstrates what an enterprising nation we are. The fact that small businesses can share these honours with large household names illustrates that they are the backbone of our economy and deserve to be recognised as such.”

As well as guests from the Liverpool City Council, Mayors Office and Department for International Trade, PSL were joined by Member of Parliament, Maria Eagle. In 2015, PSL was chosen to be the Export ‘Champion’ of its constituency for the Export By Britain campaign run by Maria Eagle, MP for Garston and Halewood.

Guests arrived at PSL’s UK headquarters in Speke, Liverpool to be greeted by MD Amanda Gowans, Directors and key managers.

Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant and other guests were then escorted around the facility to meet with other employees and for a tour of the factory.

The proceedings lead to a presentation of the two Rose Bowls and a reading of the official Scroll of Association. PSL will have the honour of representing British manufacturing with the Royal mark for 5 years, until April 2021.

The Ceremony follows a Royal Reception for the announcement of the awards at Buckingham Palace in July. PSL employees travelled to London and attended a ceremony held at the Palace where they were honoured by a meeting with H.M. The Queen.

PSL Managing Director Amanda Gowans said:

“Looking to the future – at PSL we never stand still. We pride ourselves on being inventors of new technology and unique ways of doing things to continue contributing to global pharmaceutical innovation.”
