Housing association South Liverpool Homes aims to build 780 new homes by 2032 and has submitted plans to build 57 new apartments at a site that includes a listed Victorian villa. Tony McDonough reports
South Liverpool Homes (SLH) has submitted a planning application to build 57 new apartments in Aigburth.
As part of its target of building 780 new homes across south Liverpool by 2032, the housing association says this latest development will comprise a mix of social rent, shared ownership and rent-to-buy units.
This scheme, located on Alexandra Drive close to Aigburth Road, will include a new building as well as the renovation of a listed Victorian villa on the site. This was formerly used as a care home and will house 17 of the apartments.
Once planning approval is confirmed, work is expected to start in spring 2027. The new-build homes will be built to EPC A energy efficiency standards. The project has been designed by architect Falconer Chester Hall.

Angela Perry, SLH’s executive director of assets and neighbourhoods, said: “We are really excited about the plans for this development in Aigburth, which will provide much-needed homes in a highly desirable area.

This marks SLH’s largest mixed-tenure development outside of Speke and Garston, where the organisation currently manages around 3,800 homes. It is part of SLH’s wider commitment to build 780 homes across South Liverpool by 2032.
It is SLH’s second development in Aigburth, following the ongoing construction of 28 one and two-bedroom apartments on Tramway Road for social rent.
