Stagecoach acquires 55 new drivers for teams in Birkenhead and Chester
Bus operator Stagecoach Merseyside and South Lancashire has bolstered its teams in Birkenhead and Chester by 55 people over the last 12 months following strong growth in the region and is continuing to recruit.
The company, which completed the purchase of First Bus operations in the Chester and Wirral areas in 2013, is enjoying continued demand for its offering in the region and has grown its teams to meet local requirements.
Elisabeth Tasker, managing director of Stagecoach Merseyside and South Lancashire, said:
“We’re continuing to witness strong growth driven by continued demand for our offering across the region. Our routes covering the Chester and Birkenhead areas are proving particularly popular and we are growing our teams to meet local requirements and ensure we continue to offer the same high levels of service that people have come to expect from us.”
“Our focus on connecting communities and offering a friendly, efficient and cost effective means of travel is reaping rewards and this has had a very positive knock on effect in terms of the local employment opportunities which we’ve been able to offer. We’re delighted to be bolstering our team and creating much-needed jobs in our local communities and are continuing to recruit for more drivers to service our routes in Chester and Birkenhead.”
Stagecoach has grown its team at its Chester depot from 81 members of staff to 105, while its Birkenhead staff has grown from 115 to a team of 146. The company has added a number of new routes to its timetables in Chester and is now offering evening and Sunday services across a number of its existing routes.
