Stars donate to auction in a bid to save refugees
Big names from Liverpool and beyond have come together to donate a spectacular array of exclusive items and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for an upcoming eBay charity auction in support of refugees.
The auction follows the sensational ‘With Love From Liverpool’ fundraiser two weeks ago, attended by thousands. The concert, which boasted a stellar line-up, raised over £30,000 for the British Red Cross Europe Refugee Crisis Appeal.
Three lucky bidders will have the chance to go and watch the Reds at Anfield with none other than John Bishop, who hosted the ‘With Love From Liverpool’ concert and has been behind the city’s pro-refugee initiative from the beginning. Successful bidders will no doubt be treated to an alternative football commentary from Liverpool’s well-loved comedian.
Indie rockers, The Charlatans are also getting involved in the auction, giving fans the opportunity to have a meet and greet with them before their Liverpool gig at the 02 Academy gig in December. The winners will also be given two concerts for the show.
Fans of Liverpool Football Club have the opportunity to bid on a Liverpool football shirt signed by club legend Jamie Carragher. The ex-red and current Sky Sports presenter will personally dedicate the shirt to the highest bidder.
Joe Anderson, mayor of Liverpool, said:
“Over the past few weeks, I’ve been blown away by how the city has responded to the refugee crisis. Again and again, people all over Merseyside are stepping forward to support families in crisis and letting them know that we want to support them.
“The With Love From Liverpool concert was a roaring success, but it doesn’t end there. The auction will be the next chapter in our attempts to do what we can to support the desperate plight of those fleeing from war. I hope everyone gets involved and gets bidding for such a worthy cause.”
Also up for grabs are three With Love from Liverpool posters signed by everyone who took part in the fundraising event. The limited-edition posters were designed and screen-printed by Liverpool artist David Andrews, and bear the signatures of John Bishop, Lawson, The Farm and every other act of the star-strewn night.
For box set devotees, there is a chance to bid on the complete series of ‘Boardwalk Empire’ personally signed by Stephen Graham. In addition to this David Morrissey has donated an action figure of The Governor from The Walking Dead which will be signed personally to the highest bidder. Finally, Liverpool-born rock journalist Paul Du Noyer has donated a signed collection of his classic rock coverage which he will personally dedicate to the winner.
All funds will be donated to British Red Cross, which is supporting refugees across Europe who have been forced to flee war-torn homes. In addition to providing medical aid and emergency supplies to refugees arriving in Europe, the Red Cross also ensures that families stay together and children aren’t lost on the long and arduous journey to asylum.
The auction will take place on eBay, giving everybody the chance to get their hands on these exclusive items and opportunities. All proceeds from the sales will be donated to British Red Cross, to support them in their ongoing efforts to provide life-changing aid to desperate refugee families fleeing their war-torn home countries.
