Former LFC star Steven Gerrard is joining forces with a new fee-paying sixth form college in Liverpool to offer two scholarships worth £25,000 via his football academy.
London-based David Game College is opening a new base in Liverpool city centre. It is partnering with local English language academy LILA* to open David Game College Liverpool. The facility is based in North John Street.
It will prepare students for entry to higher education by offering a range of A-Level and University Foundation Programmes (UFP). Both will come with the option of adding on an elite football coaching programme from Steven Gerrard Academy.
Gerrard, who is now manager of Aston Villa, is also sponsoring two scholarships worth £25,000 each. They will be offered to two students aged 16 to18 living in the Merseyside area.

Established in 1974, David Game College is an established independent co-educational college in London. Its UFP is recognised by more than 90 universities internationally. LILA* has been offering tuition in Liverpool to students from across the world for almost two decades.
Tom Davis, principal at David Game College Liverpool, said: “LILA* has been around for 18 years. It has been characterised by a passion for building a skillset that can take students out into the world as successful members of whatever community they come from.
“David Game College’s roots, which are in the tutorial system, are also focused on allowing students to be the best version of themselves. Our alliance with LILA* just seemed like a natural partnership.
“What we want is for this partnership to produce opportunities for students that open doors and possibilities in their own minds that they may not have considered before.
David Game College Liverpool is located within LILA*’s existing campus at New Barratt House on North John Street. First intake of students is in September 2022.
Leanne Linacre, owner/director at LILA* Liverpool, added: “David Game College has got a fantastic reputation. They have been going since 1974 and deliver courses with integrity and a real high level of expertise.
“LILA* is the first David Game campus outside of the south of England. There is nothing like David Game here in the Liverpool city region. It is a positive, supportive and inclusive place for a student to take their first steps.”
