A taste of success for Greggs with new and improved services
Leading highstreet baker Greggs is reporting a surge in profits following the launch of its new low-calorie sandwich and hot drinks menu.
The chain, which has a portfolio of 1660 stores across the UK said that sales rose 3% to £373m in the first half of the year, boosting pre-tax profits to a whopping £17m.
These latest figures are welcomed after sales took downward turn during 2013, which was attributed to hot weather, cold weather and “promiscuous shoppers” by the company.
However sales began to pick up again in the latter end of last year and the company is now planning to spend a total of £50m on upgrading 200 of it’s UK stores.
Greggs is saying that its new coffee blend has received very positive reception and thanking its new and improved products for their recent success. The company added:
“The weather has been more settled and the general economic indicators have been positive.”
