An accounting and legal consultancy is opening its first office in Liverpool with five staff with a pledge to grow headcount further this year.

Established in 2015, Accounts and Legal provides both accountancy and legal services under one roof to SMEs and sole traders across the UK. It was set up by entrepreneur Neil Nichols, with offices initially in London and Brighton.

A Manchester base followed where the initial team of three has now grown to 10 with the office now handling more than 140 clients. Its new Liverpool office will be based in the Tea Factory on Wood Street in the city centre and will be headed up by Max Whiteley.

He said: “It’s a great time to be in Liverpool, and the reception we’ve had from local businesses up to now has been overwhelmingly positive. The city really is continuing to flourish, so it’s a privilege to be a part of that, and of course, we wouldn’t have been able to do it without our amazing team.

“We’ve now got some friendly competition with the Manchester office and we’re hoping to match its figures in the next few years. Watch this space.”

After selling his own business, Neil Nichols was struck by how complicated it was dealing with solicitors and accountants separately. Accounts and Legal was set up to combine the two specialisms with the aim of making the process more streamlined for business owners.

The Liverpool team will look to further extend the firm’s reach across the North West. It is also setting a target of adding a new member to the team every three months. Accounts and Legal director Stuart Hurst added: “It really has been a meteoric couple of years for the firm.

“The success of the Manchester office has shown there is a huge appetite for our services in the North, and we’re ready to hit the ground running in Liverpool. The team is continuing to grow and we’re always on the lookout for the freshest talent, so it’s set to be an exciting few years ahead.”
