Tea for two lands a £50k Dragons’ Den deal for Liverpool duo
Earlier this month Dragons’ Den panel member Peter Jones was in YB News for his support towards World Merit Day and this week his co-star Kelly Hoppen is making headlines for her investment in Phom tea.
The Liverpool-based luxury tea brand was featured on the latest series of the programme, which involves budding entrepreneurs pitching their innovative ventures to a panel of industry experts.
Phom secured financial backing worth £50k from Kelly Hoppen who asked for 25% equity investment in the company in return. This offer was one of three as the Dragons showed great interest in the local product.

The product consists of a range of six loose-teas that are all made from ethically sourced ingredients from Canada, China, India and Sri Lanka.
The Box of T brand which owns Phom was founded at the end of last year by two Liverpool John Moores University students Omar Farag and Philip Perera, who have now reportedly sealed a deal to stock their new product in Selfridges stores across London, Manchester and Birmingham.
