The Brink to host Merseyside Recovery Awards
Action on Addiction is set to play host to this year’s Merseyside Recovery Awards at the charity’s flagship social enterprise The Brink Café on Friday, July 17.
Members of the recovery community together with the general public alike are set to descend on the popular Parr Street venue to recognise and honour individuals who have overcome drug and alcohol addictions – while commending those who have helped to aid recovery for others.
Karen Hemmings, Head of Service at Action on Addiction Merseyside said:
“Since its establishment in 2012 the Big Lottery Funded Merseyside Recovery Awards aim to celebrate the outstanding figures in the North West’s recovery community.
“As well as applauding individuals who have overcome their addictions, the awards also offer a platform to showcase the hard work that is put in by recovery organisation workers who offer on-going support, wellness and positivity.”
After deliberation from a panel of independent judges, nine winners will be announced during the evening. Award categories include the Unsung Hero Award, Social Impact Award, Extraordinary Achievement Award (Man and Woman), Worker Supporting Recovery Award, Group/Project/Team Recovery Award, Creative Recovery and Volunteer of the Year Award, in addition to the Lifetime Achievement Award which offers a £500 cash prize.
Those attending the event will receive a three-course meal and goodie bag and will be treated to live entertainment throughout the celebratory evening.
Karen added:
“We hope that the awards inspire those who are battling addictions to get involved in our programmes and to receive the help that they need to get them back on track. Merseyside is moving forward and introducing clear pathways to recovery to assist people suffering from alcohol and drug abuse – by offering a varied array of social initiatives and creative workshops, we are witnessing a steady increase of positive life transformations across the North West.
“It is really easy to nominate – whether you prefer to fill in a form at The Brink or submit your nominations online please get voting to praise the unsung heroes of the local recovery community.”
Tickets cost £25 per person and voting closes on Monday 15th June. For more information about the Recovery Awards visit www.recoveryawards.co.uk. For more information about The Brink visit www.thebrinkliverpool.com or call 0151 703 0582.
