‘Tikeasy’ bar opens in Liverpool city centre
Globetrotting entrepreneur Danny Cunningham opens Danny C’s in Liverpool city centre, a new bar he describes as a ‘tikeasy’. Tony McDonough reports
A new bar has opened in Seel Street in Liverpool city centre.
Danny C’s is the brainchild of globetrotting entrepreneur Danny Cunningham, who grew up in Derry and first came to Liverpool as a student in 2009. After working in hospitality across the world he has now come back to launch his first venture in the city.
Described as a ‘tikeasy’, a combination of a traditional speakeasy and a tiki bar, Danny C’s offers classic cocktails and new creations put together by Danny himself. It has 35 seats and table service only.
While studying in Liverpool, Danny worked behind the bar at Alma de Cuba in Seel Street. Within 14 months he was the bar manager. He then became part of the opening team for Salt Dog Slims and 81 Ltd, which served as the foundation to his career in hospitality.
He later worked in the Maldives, US, Barbados, Venezuela, Oslo, Dubai, Cayman Islands and Thailand.
Danny C’s cocktail menu will reflect Daniel’s globetrotting, with the Tikeasy’s cocktail menu including sections of drinks from specific continents including the Middle East, South East Asia and the Americas.
For those who prefer wine, Danny C’s will have a list of global wines from Morocco and the Middle East. The food element is made by Bitter Social; the Liverpool-born concept that’s been popping up all over Europe over the last five years.

Creating a small menu of dishes, Bitter Social will serve up cheesy nachos with mole, salsa verde and American-style cheese, as well as bone marrow pasta with Cafe De Paris cavatelli.
“We’ve been working incredibly hard behind the scenes on both the build and menu of Danny C’s and myself and the team are really excited to be opening our doors,” said Danny.
“Our menu caters for all; there’s a selection of unique cocktails from around the globe which have been created to evoke nostalgia and bring back really happy memories for our guests if they’ve visited the destinations.”
