Former police officer-turned-entrepreneur Irene Afful will address this year’s Professionals’ Dinner in Liverpool, organised by Professional Liverpool and the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Irene grew up in Toxteth in Liverpool and saw the Toxteth riots first hand and also endured racial abuse from police officers. However, she later joined Merseyside Police and worked her way through the ranks to become the first black, female inspector in the force’s history.

Now, through her own consultancy Ametrine Enterprise Solutions, Irene helps both individuals and organisations to achieve their goals.

Also speaking at the dinner, being held at the Rum Warehouse in the Titanic Hotel on Thursday, July 11, will be Dr Kevin Jones, billed as ‘Britain’s funniest practising doctor’ who last year sold out his One Man Show at the Edinburgh Fringe.

The Professionals’ Dinner aims to bring people from across the broad professionals sector in the Liverpool city region for an evening of entertainment and networking.

Chosen charity for the evening will be The Community Foundation for Merseyside, which specialises in in helping individuals and organisations give to causes that matter to them, where there is most need and where it will have the greatest impact.

CFM is responsible for managing funds for Jamie Carragher’s 23 Foundation, the Liverpool ONE Foundation, Hill Dickinson and Peel Ports. In 2018 – during the 100-year anniversary of the Representation of the People Act, which first gave women the right to vote – CFM launched the Women’s Fund initiative to break down barriers that affect girls and women.

Tables for the dinner are priced at £800 plus VAT with individual tickets available for £80 plus VAT and can be booked with by emailing kelseyconnors@professionalLiverpool.com – and you can click here for more information on the event. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
