Affordable housing provider Torus has started building 168 homes for Shared Ownership and affordable rent in a £28m project in Liverpool city region.

Torus has been building new homes in St Helens for the past five year and its Lancots Lane scheme is the biggest one so far. It will see 96 Shared Ownership homes and 73 for affordable rent.

They will comprise a mix of two, three and four-bedroom houses as well as a number of bungalows. Torus is promising high levels of energy efficiency on the brownfield development.

Senior development manager at Torus Developments, Colin Lafferty, said: “St Helens is an incredibly important area of focus for Torus and one we are wholeheartedly committed to investing in.

“Lancots Lane is the first of a number of large scale schemes we will be mobilising in St Helens and to be in a position to bring forward 168 new homes is something we’re really proud of.

“Lancots Lane also marks the beginning of a new partnership with Holmpatrick Developments and Stanley Land and Homes.

“It’s fantastic to be working with even more providers and expanding not only our housing portfolio but the diversity of organisations we are collaborating with.”
