Four local businesses have been short listed for a prestigious national tourism award.
Liverpool Cathedral, Delifonseca Dockside Restaurant, The Wro Bar in West Kirby, and Mere Brook House in Thornton Hough are all in line for a VisitEngland Award for Excellence.
The awards are presented by the country’s national tourism board. They celebrate success and excellence across the tourism industry, and are a showcase for England’s best tourism products.
Liverpool Cathedral has been shortlisted in the category of Large Visitor Attraction of the Year, Delifonseca for the Taste of England Award, The Wro Bar for Tourism Pub of the Year and Mere Brook House for Bed & Breakfast / Guest Accommodation of the Year.
The award ceremony will take place next month at the Sage Centre in Gateshead.
Peter Sandman, Head of Visitor Economy Development for the Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership said:
“These awards recognise and reward excellence across the tourism sector and to have four businesses shortlisted from the region is fantastic news and reflects just how far the city has come in terms of tourism quality.
“The city region has done very well in previous years at these awards. We wish all four finalists the very best of luck, these businesses have set the benchmark very high for others across the region to follow.”
James Berresford, Chief Executive of VisitEngland said:
“It’s been another successful year for our Excellence Awards as we’ve received hundreds of applications of an extremely high standard. That’s why all the finalists should be incredibly proud that they’ve been short-listed against such tough competition.
I’d like to congratulate all the finalists who now represent the top five in their category in England and wish them all the very best of luck on Awards night at the Sage Centre in Gateshead – a spectacular venue to celebrate the industry’s best.”
