Tranmere Rovers owner Mark Palios to speak at Liverpool IoD event

Tranmere Rovers FC owner Mark Palios will be the guest speaker at the next Audience With event organised by the Liverpool branch of the Institute of Directors (IoD).

A former chief executive of the Football Association, Mr Palios and his wife Nicola, purchased a controlling stake in the Wirral club in 2014 from Peter Johnson and has since overseen back-to-back promotions with Rovers now competing in League One.

He will offer at talk on ‘life lessons, leadership and resilience’ at the IoD event on Wednesday, January 29, at 4pm in the Radisson Blu Hotel in Old Hall Street, Liverpool city centre.

Mr Palios, one of eight children of a Greek immigrant docker, was born in Wavertree in south Liverpool and became a professional footballer, playing as a midfielder for Tranmere for nine years. He later played for Crewe Alexandra and captained Bangor City in the European Cup-Winners Cup.

He later gained a degree in psychology and went on to qualify as a chartered accountant. He worked for EY and PwC, focusing on Corporate recovery strategy and business regeneration across Europe, before becoming chief executive of of the FA.
