Travel agency chain Hays Travel is to open a new branch in Widnes town centre.

The company has agreed to occupy a 1,526 sq ft two-storey unit in Albert Road on a 10-year lease. Adjacent traders include Holland & Barrett.

Green Oaks Shopping Centre and Albert Square Shopping Centre are in close proximity, as well as Widnes Shopping Park.

The new opening follows the firm’s rapid expansion across the UK and recent award win at the Agent Achievement Awards, where it was named the best large travel agency in the UK.

A branch in Moreton, Wirral opened in June and a further opening is scheduled in Hove, taking the businesses’ total number of retail stores across the country to 150.

Hays Travel employs more than 1,000 people and last year its sales exceeded £800m.

Hitchcock Wright & Partners (HWP) acted on behalf of the private landlord while Wild Commercial Property acted on behalf of Hays Travel.

HWP partner Matt Kerrigan said: “Albert Road is a busy high street with a great retail mix of local businesses and national chains.
