Liverpool marketing and web design agency Verb says its “unprecedented growth” in 2020 has seen its workforce almost treble in the past 12 months.

And Verb, founded by entrepreneur Dean Currall in 2013, is set to relocate from Brunswick Street in Liverpool city centre to the Downing-owned No 1 Old Hall Street, just a couple of streets away, to accommodate its growth.

At the start of 2020, Verb employed 15 staff. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent economic downturn, the firm has grown headcount to more than 40 following a number of new client wins.

With a significant proportion of its client base opening in the e-commerce sector, the business has prospered thanks to a surge in online retail sales during the COVID-19 restrictions and lockdowns.

Verb is now projecting further growth and new client wins in 2021. Dean said: “2020 was a huge year for Verb, and we have tripled in size in such a short space of time, which is a testament to the service we are providing for our clients across all our departments.

“But we don’t plan to stop there and we won’t be slowing down anytime soon. With the move to our new offices at the beginning of 2021, we plan to continue to grow, expand and innovate for ourselves and our clients.”

Verb’s affiliate marketing department has quintupled through 2020. This investment has led to a significant growth in revenue streams for its clients, including the Swan homewares brand, Steven Brown Art, women’s fashion and clothing brands Playful Promises and Ukiyo, and health and fitness businesses Powerstance and the Ultimate Nutrition Guide.

Steve Brown Art, which sells a variety of artworks, lifestyle products and gifts online, is one of Verb’s newest clients, coming on board in 2020. Verb has designed and built the company’s new website which has gone live in the last few days.

Other new clients include start-ups such as Powerstance, which began trading in June 2020.

Powerstance has developed a product, promoted by MMA fighters such as Darren Till, Anthony Fowler and Anthony Crolla, which helps fighters improve their stance. It has now sold thousands of units all over the world thanks to Verb’s e-commerce expertise.

Another new client is Ukiyo, a UK-based women’s fashion retailer selling capsule collections of premium-quality casual-cool ladieswear. It launched in August of last year, with a new website and is regularly promoted by a range of influencers on social media.

Dean added: “This is an exciting time for Verb, and looking to the future our aim is to quadruple our growth by 2028.”
