One of Liverpool city region’s best known SMEs is offering its support to the Good Small Business Awards taking place in Liverpool this week.
Organised by Claire and Garth Dallas, directors at Dallas Consulting, and their team, the awards are being held at the Hilton Hotel in the city centre on Wednesday evening. They will focus on the achievements of small and micro businesses that are making a difference.
“A good business is one that focuses on the good, understands its impacts and takes conscious and ongoing steps to ensure that not only does it reduce harmful impacts, but that this impact is good – for people, for communities, for the planet,” say the organisers.
Among the sponsors of the event are Wild Thang, a Bootle-based brand marketing specialist. Founder and managing director Andrew Dwerryhouse says the awards fit in with the company’s own ethos and values.
Wild Thang operates from a 20,000 sq ft headquarters close to Liverpool waterfront. Despite a sharp downturn in business during the pandemic the business pushed on with an upgrade of its headquarters costing more than £2m.
In December 2022, LBN reported how the firm was to step up its eco-friendly and net zero push in 2023. It is increasing the volume of sustainable products and packaging it sells and uses. It will shortly reveal more about its net zero plans.

Andrew said: “We know first-hand just how challenging it can be to run a small business, but also how rewarding it can be to see the positive impact that our work has on our local community.
“That’s why we are proud to support these awards, which highlight the amazing work being done by small businesses across the country.
“We understand just how important it is to support and promote small businesses that are doing great things for their communities and to support those businesses’ long term sustainability goals.”
At the awards on Wednesday evening, Andrew will announce in full its long-term Wild Thang Sustainability Pledge.
He added: “Wild Thang has already committed to a long-term carbon offsetting plan in partnership with Ecologi. We will be purchasing and planting trees on behalf of every staff member and also planting trees with every purchase made by our clients.
“We know our commitment to sustainability can’t stop there and must go further, so we can’t wait to share our full long-term sustainability pledge at The Good Small Business Awards this week.”
