Brand marketing specialist Wild Thang is sponsoring the Pub of the Year category in the forthcoming Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards.

Bootle-based Wild Thang, which has just delivered a £2m expansion of its headquarters, is giving its backing to the awards which will take place at Liverpool Cathedral on Thursday, March 10.

For the first time since 2019 the event will be held in person. Organisers Growth Platform, in association with Liverpool BID Company, see the event as a celebration of the resilience of the local tourism sector which has endured the most turbulent period in its recent history due to the pandemic.

Wild Thang founder and managing director Andrew Dwerryhouse agrees, saying: “We have now supported this event over a number of years but this year it really did feel especially important to get involved and support these really important awards given the Covid storm that has hit so many businesses involved in the visitor and hospitality sector.

“This will hopefully be a defining moment for those industries to really celebrate everyone surviving and now starting to thrive once again.”

“We also know the future success of those sectors is critical to the future prosperity of the entire region so celebrating the brightest and best in such an iconic building as Liverpool Cathedral will hopefully further shine a light on the Liverpool city region as a world class visitor destination.”

On the shortlist for the Pub of the Year category are Liverpool Gin Distillery, Masons, The Bridewell, The Denbigh Castle and The Windmill Southport.

Wild Thang, manufactures and supplies a full range of branded marketing materials to clients in the UK and overseas, has faced its own battles during the pandemic. Its resilience was recognised when it was voted one of the top merchandise and corporate gift distributors in the UK.

Andrew added: “We are really pleased this year to be providing all the event branding collateral that the event requires, including the printed program, photo backdrop, signage and the awards the winners will be receiving on the night.

“Last but not least we would like to say a huge well done to all those amazing businesses nominated and wish them all much good luck for their award category.”
