Wirral engineering and construction project management firm Concept Projects Group delivers 107,000 sq ft nuclear manufacturing facility in Deeside, where 200 jobs are being created. Tony McDonough reports

Concept Projects Group has delivered a nuclear manufacturing facility for Boccard UK in Deeside where 200 jobs are being created.
Wirral-based Concept, an engineering and construction project management company, was responsible for the end-to-end management of the complex facility relocation, including dilapidation works, infrastructure upgrades, and office fit-outs.
This facility will be one of the UK’s largest supply chain hubs for the nuclear industry. It will provide infrastructure components for UK nuclear power stations including Hinkley Point C in Somerset and Sizewell C in Suffolk.
Workers on the site will produce high-integrity components such as piping, supports, tanks, and modular systems for use in nuclear applications, energy production, and the food industry.

Concept, which has its headquarters in Bromborough, completed the project in just five months, within budget and two weeks ahead of schedule.
Allen Hulmes, senior project manager at Concept, said: “Working closely with Boccard, we’ve provided comprehensive project management support to transform an empty warehouse into a centre of manufacturing excellence for the nuclear sector.

“This fully digitalised facility gives Boccard the capacity to expand its operations and drive future growth across both industrial sectors – their Life Solutions and Energy Solutions.
“It has been incredibly rewarding to deliver a project that not only advances industry standards but also brings long-term opportunity to the region, while supporting the UK’s legally binding net zero targets, where nuclear energy will play a vital role.”
This project was supported by the Welsh Government’s Economy Futures Fund, helping to safeguard 59 jobs and supporting the creation of more than 150 new roles.
