Work began on phase two of the highly anticipated Shankly Hotel development this week.

The development, which will include a rooftop bar and two 175-seat restaurants, infinity swimming pool, conference facility and 100ft slide, is set to be ready in time for July 2016.

Steel and other structural components have arrived at the site and builders can be seen working on the roof as the project picks up pace.

The Shankly Hotel, which is a joint venture between Signature Living Developments and the surviving Shankly family, is Liverpool’s first football-themed hotel situated on Victoria Street in the city centre.

Lawrence Kenwright, co-founder of Signature Living, is excited with plans for phase two of the development. He said:

“It’s great to see work on phase two of the Shankly coming together. It will be the ultimate tourist destination the city has to offer and showcase our iconic landmarks in all their glory. I’m really excited for it to be complete this summer.”
