Maureen Sinclair, Director of Clapperboard UK has great pleasure in announcing that this year’s high profile Awards Ceremony will return to Liverpool, thanks to Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson’s support.

Six short films made by young people from across Merseyside, on issues such as hate crime, identity, finance and disability will be premiered at this year’s Clapperboard Awards Ceremony. The young film-makers will come together to celebrate their achievements at Liverpool’s Capstone Theatre on Thursday 9 October, where all short films will be premiered to a diverse audience of parents, guardians, sponsors, supporters, press and celebrities.

Clapperboard UK Ltd is a charitable, non-profit making organisation and has worked successfully with more than one thousand young people between the ages of 12-19 across the North West bringing creativity into their lives.

Mayor of Liverpool City Council Joe Anderson said:

“I am delighted to be able to support the Clapperboard Youth Project 2014. The work that they do with our young ones is instrumental in making their futures bright. Liverpool is home to some of the most talented people in the world and it is thanks to projects such as this that they have the opportunity to thrive.”

The short films will be judged by a jury of film and television professionals including award winning producer Nicola Shindler from RED Productions (Hillsborough, Scott and Bailey, Last Tango in Halifax, Prey), acclaimed writer Frank Cottrell Boyce, (Welcome to Sarajevo, 24 Hour Party People, Millions, Framed, The Railway Man) Liverpool award nominated actor Josh Bolt (Be All and End All, Nowhere Boy, Shameless, Last Tango in Halifax), ex-Clapperboard volunteer Amy Campbell who has gone on to work at Lime Pictures, ITV and BBC on productions such as Family Matters, Dragon’s Den, A Question of Sport. Amy is presently working as a researcher on Call the Council for BBC Entertainment North.
