Liverpool residential developer Legacie has secured a place on the £1.5bn Innovation Chain North (ICN) framework.

This will mean Legacie, which is better known for its large-scale commercial schemes, will increase the work it carries out in partnership with housing associations. The Great Places Housing Group lasts for four years.

In November 2023 Legacie signalled its intention to work more in the affordable and social housing sector when it started work on a £14m project to build 74 homes in Garston for South Liverpool Homes.

This framework comprises contractors and consultants and aims to support Great Places’ affordable development programme but also other housing associations operating across the north of England.

One of the 103 contractors and consultants from the 206 that applied to be successful, Legacie were selected based on technical competence, price and commitment to social value.

John Becket, director of housing at Legacie, said: “This achievement marks a significant milestone for our organisation and reflects our commitment to excellence in the housing sector.

“As an ICN Framework Contractor, we are now positioned to collaborate more closely with housing associations, delivering high-quality services and innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of our communities and the built environment.

“This opportunity allows us to further our mission of providing safe, sustainable, and affordable housing for all.

“We look forward to working with housing associations to create positive impacts and drive forward the standards of housing provision.”

Joanne Whitehead, Great Places’ development performance manager, responsible for managing the framework, added: “We are confident they (Legacie) will be able to work with us and the clients of ICN in delivering the sector’s extensive development ambitions in the North.”
