An Indian restaurant in Liverpool that opened in January 2024 says its first few months of trading have exceeded expectations.

Indian Tiffin Room on Duke Street is on the site of the former Mayur restaurant. Turnover so far is 63.5% above initial projections. It has welcomed more than 5,000 diners since opening and is now averaging more than 600 a week.

This unit had been empty for 18 months before hospitality entrepreneurs Srini Sundaram and Suresh Raje Urs invested £350,000 in the new venue. The duo already run outlets in Cheadle, Leeds and Manchester.

The project saw a 12-week refit with the installation of two new kitchens and a showpiece cocktail bar. The 102 cover venue now employs more than 30 people.

Srini said “We are absolutely delighted that during what has been a turbulent time for the leisure industry our Liverpool venue has been welcomed so warmly by our customers and our investment in the local leisure scene is already showing healthy growth.”
