100 Cub Scouts take on trampolining at Velocity 2 to celebrate centenary

100 Cubs have jumped on board the action at Velocity 2 to mark the centenary milestone of Cub Scouting.

The 46,000 sq. ft. Wigan based trampoline park played host to the novel Cubs100 party, which saw the arrival of Cub Scouts aged between eight-ten and volunteers from across Liverpool and Merseyside.

After performing the honoree Scouts Promise in unison, the youngsters took to the state-of-the-art interconnected trampolines and soft play areas, in a bid to tick off of another exhilarating activity scheduled for the year-long celebratory programme.

Managing Director of Velocity Leisure Steven Cosgrove said:

“It was brilliant to see so many Cub Scouts and leaders gather to celebrate their impressive one-hundredth anniversary here with us at Velocity 2.

“Not only was it a joy to offer a unique action-packed activity that hasn’t been done before as part of the Cubs100 programme, it was such a proud moment to witness the Scouts Promise be relayed with such pride and emotion on a mass scale.”

As one of the largest of its kind in the North West, Velocity 2 is located in Caxton Close in Wigan and is just a 20-minute drive from Liverpool City Centre. Suitable for all visitors from walking age onwards, the trampoline park offers a range of activities including Extreme Dodgeball, Club Velocity, Toddler Time and fitness classes. Signature high-end additions also include a foam pit airbag, Gladiator-style jousting and unrivalled Clip ‘n’ Climb facilities.

Established 100 years ago, there are now more than 150,000 Cub Scouts across the UK. Cubs take part in a varied array of weekly activities that are designed to be interesting and challenging such as camps, climbing and water zorbing to name a few. The Cubs100 programme runs from January-December 2016 to mark a century of adventure and is themed around everyday adventure.

Cub Scout Leader Ben Elman added:

“Another fantastic memory has been made for everyone that got involved, as this unique trampolining experience was a first for the Cub Scouts. While many of our activities consist of plenty of time spent outdoors, it was great to mix it up a little and provide the Cubs with something a little different while still combining the key essentials – fun, friendship and adventure.

“As the celebratory Cubs100 programme is coming to an end in December, the year has been jam-packed with activities designed to be exciting and challenging and most importantly teach youngsters life skills as they go along. Here’s to another 100 years!”
