24hour refuelling station at Port of Liverpool nears completion
Work on the new 24hr HGV refuelling site at the Port of Liverpool is nearing completion.
Port users have seen significant progress made over the last 10 weeks and the site, which was once a dis-used piece of land, has been developed to give a new state-of-the-art facility providing diesel, gas oil and AdBlue® allowing up to 8 HGVs to refuel simultaneously.
Opening early in 2017, the port-centric location will provide a convenient place for drivers to refuel, eliminating unnecessary journeys with the expectation that it will indirectly reduce road congestion as a result.
Maritime Transport, who will use the refuelling site when it opens, stated:
“It’s great news that this new facility will soon be up and running. The site is ideally located for us, as it’s just a few minutes’ drive from our Liverpool depot.
“This means that our drivers can fill up easily and not have to worry about filling up whilst en-route to their next job. The fact that fuel is pumped at 120 litres per minute means our drivers will be able to fill up in around three minutes”.
Final preparations, including testing of the pumps and card readers, are currently underway ahead of the site launching.
Andrew Goodwin, National Bunker Manager for Certas Energy, said:
“We’re delighted that our schedule of works has gone to plan and it is great to see the new site nearing completion.
“This is a major milestone for us in our strategy to develop a national network of refuelling locations. We’re looking forward to welcoming port users to this flagship facility and offering customers a convenient way to refuel whilst they are within the port.
“We are pleased with the partnership that we have built with Peel Ports Group and look forward to this continuing in the future.”
Andrew Martin, Group Land and Property Director for Peel Ports Group said:
“It’s excellent to see the delivery of another key milestone in this project. This new facility will provide a convenient refuelling station for the haulage community when using our new Liverpool2 Container Terminal or any of our port facilities. We’ve enjoyed working with Certas Energy and look forward to an on-going partnership.”
