£580k refurbishment for award-winning Thornton Hall hotel & spa
The owners of the award-winning four star Thornton Hall Hotel & Spa have completed a four-month refurbishment programme to ‘transform facilities and improve the guest experience’.
The £580k project was part of Thornton Hall Hotel’s on-going reinvestment in the 62-bedroom hotel, restaurant, brassiere, spa, health club and event suite.
Work included landscaping the front of the hotel; adding new sandstone steps and outdoor carriage lighting and re-surfacing the cark park, as well as creating a new wood-panelled reception and continuing the phased refurbishment of hotel bedrooms, to create a modern, boutique feel. Thornton Hall refurbished a number of bedrooms in 2014 and has now completed all 62.
The hotel is also undertaking an extension to the main kitchen to bring the 21-strong kitchen team onto one floor and a redesign of the popular Times Brasserie. This work follows the appointment of new Executive Chef Matt Worswick at the end of 2014 and is part of the hotel’s bid to secure more accolades for its three AA rosette, fine-dining restaurant The Lawns.
Geoff Dale, general manager of Thornton Hall Hotel & Spa said:
“It’s really important that the guest experience always matches or exceeds the expectation. These improvements are all about our guests, making sure the four star experience starts the moment they arrive and we’ve had some very positive feedback already. There’s still some work to do but we’re on the home straight.”
Thornton Hall Hotel holds an impressive three AA Rosettes for fine dining in The Lawns and was listed in the Michelin Guide 2015 twice (the restaurant and the hotel). Earlier this year The Lawns was awarded the Highest Quality Assured VisitEngland Taste Accreditation assessed by Quality in Tourism.
