Window firm Warwick to supply 248 new homes
Merseyside window and door manufacturer Warwick North West cements its position as a ‘go-to’ supplier for the social and affordable housing sector with deals for 248 new homes. Tony McDonough reports

Months after revealing a £1m investment into its Bootle factory Warwick North West announces deals to supply windows and doors for 248 new homes.
In the last couple of years Warwick North West, which employs around 120 people close to the Port of Liverpool, has made a strategic decision to target the social and affordable housing sector.
This approach has so far proven successful with multiple deals with housing groups across the North West. In February managing director Greg Johnson told LBN he was investing £1m in new manufacturing kit as demand for its products grows.
Now it is to supply windows and doors to two developments totalling 248 new homes. One is a development being brought forward by Liverpool-based Torus Homes at a scheme in St Helens that will be known as The Glassworks.
Torus will develop 168 new homes built – 96 for Shared Ownership and 72 for Affordable Rent (this means rental levels no more than 80% of local market rate).
Located on Lancots Lane, the scheme is part of a wider £200m regeneration project proposed by Developer BXB (Cowley Hill), a joint venture between BXB Land Solutions and Promenade Estates that will comprise up to 1,100 new homes.
Warwick will also supply windows and doors for a Southway Housing Trust development in Salford near Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium. Altrincham-based McGoff Construction is the main contractor for the project, aptly located on Warwick Road.
Greg Johnson said: “These two contracts are just the latest in a string of deals we have secured in the affordable housing sector. More than two years ago we saw the potential for growth in social housing.
“Our strategy was vindicated following last year’s General Election when the new Labour Government pledged to build up to 1.5m new homes during the life of the parliament. It also promised to transform the planning process.
“I think the key to our success in this sector is our commitment to quality and, crucially, our awareness of the importance of net zero and maximising the energy efficiency of new homes.
“Social housing providers have become increasingly aware of the importance of cutting carbon emissions and also pushing down energy bills for their tenants. Our windows and doors are the best around when it comes to thermal efficiency.”

In June Warwick also secured lucrative three-year partnerships with two leading Liverpool contractors – Clubmoor-based construction firm Frank Rogers and Bootle-based building contractors Sovini Group.
In an agreement that will see them as the preferred window and door supplier, Warwick will have access to a pipeline of projects and contracts, including almost 100 new homes, workspaces and a new public courtyard for The Florence Institute in L8.

“We’re delighted to announce our partnerships with Frank Rogers and Sovini. We have well-established relationships with both firms, fundamentally built on our shared values,” added Greg.
“Both firms are purpose-driven and committed to improving communities, something that is at the beating heart of our business too. Social value has become an overly used and often throwaway phrase, but at Warwick it’s something we’re all passionate about.
“We are keen to play our part in the provision of warm, safe, affordable homes for the future, and securing partnerships with Frank Rogers and Sovini take us another step closer to achieving that.”
