New £2m games venue to launch this autumn

A £2 million investment will bring a new competitive socialising venue to Liverpool this autumn, creating 30 jobs and adding to the city’s growing leisure and entertainment offer. Jennie Lewis reports

Superlekka promises to be the city’s elite games venue

Superlekka, a new £2m scheme backed by some of the city region’s leading leisure business owners, will be based in the Baltic Triangle and could create up to 30 new jobs.

The venture is the brainchild of Kip Piper, former creative director and co-founder of national entertainment brand Golf Fang, and co-funded by Daniel Gillbanks and David Scowcroft, founders of PINS Social Club.

It will combine interactive sports challenges, gameshow-inspired competition and RFID technology within a retro stadium setting and is designed to appeal to groups seeking a high-energy social experience.

The team has dedicated 12 months to research, development and testing with technology specialists, creating a bespoke digital system for Superlekka that connects every game into one competition and automatically tracks players’ scores.

Every event has been designed to be accessible and intuitive, meaning players do not require a certain level of skill or experience. The games test a broad mix of capabilities, from hand-eye coordination to general knowledge, so its appeal is intentionally broad.

Kip says the whole idea is to “bring people together” and that “the sheer variety of events levels the playing field and guarantees everyone will be good at something.”

“Superlekka is a true ‘games for the people’” he adds.

Daniel Gillbanks says: “We are delighted to be backing such a creative, vibrant, and innovative concept.

“The dedication to detail in creating a fully immersive stadium environment is what truly sets it apart.

“By creating such a unique space with live digital technology, Superlekka won’t just elevate competitive socialising, it’s defining the entirely new category of sportstainment.”

Superlekka, which currently operate as an exclusively over-18s destination, will also offer an expertly curated cocktail menu and extensive beer selection.

It has plans to expand its offer over the Christmas period, when the venue will introduce dedicated family tickets and open its doors to players aged 13 and upwards for specific daytime sessions.
