Morecrofts’ first domestic violence conference
Liverpool solicitors Morecrofts will draw on one of Hollyoaks’ most compelling story lines when it hosts its first domestic violence conference later this month.
On Wednesday, April 29th Morecrofts will discuss the ripple effect of domestic violence on family, friends, work and every day life with the help of expert speakers from regional police, charities, legal professionals and broadcasters.
Actress Nikki Sanderson, whose Hollyoaks character Maxine has endured a hard-hitting domestic abuse storyline, will join the panel to take part in an open Q&A session with Lime Pictures’ researcher Charlotte Pattullo. The Q&A will highlight the preparation involved in the storyline and the impact it has had on viewers.
Julie Waring, partner at Morecrofts and the practice’s head of domestic abuse said:
“I’ve been a specialist in this area for 20 years and have seen the far-reaching and heart-wrenching effect domestic violence has, not just on the victims but their families, friends and colleagues too.
“We have pulled together an exceptional group of speakers to discuss significant developments in domestic abuse safeguarding and to equip solicitors, social workers, care professionals, charities, colleges and employers with advice on how to spot domestic violence and direct people to the support they need.”
The speaker line up includes Jane Kennedy, Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner; Julie Knowles, assistant director of safeguarding at Alder Hey Hospital; Ayla and Jacqui Nasuh, founders of Merseyside Domestic Violence Service; and Abby Ogier, regional lead for domestic abuse at Banardo’s.
The one-day event is the first conference of its type in Merseyside and will take place on 29th April at the Marriott Hotel, Queen Square, Liverpool City Centre from 9.30am–4.30pm. To book your tickets visit: http://www.morecrofts.co.uk/da
