Work has been completed on the latest phase of new housing off Edge Lane in Liverpool.

Bellway is constructing around 150 properties at Williamson Place, off Wavertree Road in Edge Hill, in addition to 200 homes already completed as part of the development.

The majority are three and four bedroom homes along with some two bed houses and bungalows, with off street car parking and gardens to the front and rear.

The properties include innovative ‘heat recovery’ ventilation systems which reduce energy use and are also built to ‘lifetime home standards’ which means they are fully accessible for people who have a physical disability or a wheelchair.

Councillor Frank Hont, Cabinet member for housing, said:

“This part of Edge Hill is being transformed through the delivery of a varied mix of good quality new housing.

“We already know there is real demand for these homes as they are close to the new Archbishop Blanch High School and areas of major employment such as the Innovation Park, the new Royal Liverpool Hospital and the Knowledge Quarter.

“The future for this area is looking really positive as we are also moving forward the next phase of our Homes for a Pound scheme in nearby Picton and looking to bring empty retail units back into use on Smithdown Road and Earle Road through Shops for a Pound.

“This is part of our commitment to deliver much-needed, good quality homes for residents to increase the choice, range and quality of properties that are available across the city, transforming our neighbourhoods.

“Projects such as this also support and create jobs in the construction and supply chain as well as supporting apprenticeships.”

The latest phase of work also completes the Wavertree Road green boulevard – a new avenue with landscaping and traffic calming.
