Building works continue apace at St. Julie’s
Students of St. Julie’s in Woolton are watching eagerly as their new school emerges before their eyes.
Teachers and pupils at the school had more than good reason to look forward to the new academic year when they returned earlier this month.
Thanks to the highly advanced engineering technology employed by Kier, the company responsible for constructing the new multi-million pound school in Woolton, everyone at St. Julie’s has been been able to witness the full scale new building emerge from the ground remarkably without disruption.
Headteacher Tim Alderman said everyone at the school was already getting a flavour of what the finished building will look like. He commented:
“We are delighted with the rapid progress so far and Kier have been brilliant. There
continues to be no disruption to the normal running of the school…it is very calm and quiet around the site and we are still on track to open in September 2017.”
Mr. Alderman also spoke of how the new build has generated a lot of additional interest in the school. He said:
“We are now oversubscribed in year 7 having taken 14 additional pupils on appeal. This, coupled with the excellent results at A Level and GCSE in the summer, which went up significantly at atime when nationally they went down, means that it is a very exciting time be at St Julie’s. We’re expecting a bumper open evening on Thursday this week too…it’s going to be very busy judging by feedback so far.”
