In September next year it will welcome the European Veterinary Dermatology Congress and in 2020 the National Osteoporosis Society and the National Union of Students. Tony McDonough reports

Waterfront complex ACC Liverpool has secured six new conferences overt the next five years, brining thousands of delegates to the city.

ACC comprises the BT Convention Centre, Exhibition Centre Liverpool as well as the Echo Arena and the Pullman Hotel.

In September next year it will welcome the European Veterinary Dermatology Congress and in 2020 the National Osteoporosis Society and the National Union of Students.

Looking further ahead, confirmations include the Local Government Association (LGA) Annual Conference and Exhibition in 2021, the European Society of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology (ESPO) in 2022 and the British Association of Dermatologists in 2023.

ESPO confirmed its event earlier this month, after Liverpool beat Prague to host the congress. It will bring 1,800 delegates in May 2022 and is the largest gathering of its kind in the world.

It was last held in the UK 16 years ago and will generate an estimated £3.1m in economic impact for the city region.

Ambassador Ray Clarke, consultant children’s ear, nose and throat surgeon at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, said: “The ESPO biennial conference is the largest pediatric otorhinolaryngology meeting in the world and we have spent three years working on the bid process to bring it to Liverpool.

“It has been a real team effort between all involved and we are thrilled that it will take place in the city in 2022, particularly as we lost the 2020 event by just one vote.”
