A building firm with a number of live projects in the Liverpool city region is reopening all of its sites in the North West and North Wales.
Residential development specialist Anwyl Partnerships says it is currently operating at 70% capacity as the firm gradually reintegrates its large workforce following the COVID-19 restrictions.
Just before lockdown Anwyl secured a contract with Merseyside homes provider Torus to build 84 homes for shared ownership and rent, as well as a 102 apartment extra care facility, on the site of the former Rock Ferry High School in Wirral.
And in another contract with Torus the firm is also undertaking an £11.3m extra care development in Warrington, comprising 97-one and two bedroom apartments. It is also moving forward with a project to build 53 affordable retirement homes in Wallasey.
Tom Anwyl, managing director of Anwyl Partnerships, said: “Without a doubt, the past eight weeks have been incredibly challenging. We’ve carefully followed Government advice and the information provided by the Construction Leadership Council and have been introducing practical and sustainable changes almost daily in line with this information.
“Open and clear channels of communication have been retained throughout and we’ve worked closely with all of our partners to apply the correct approach and implement the most appropriate processes. I’m pleased to say that we’ve enjoyed positive feedback from employees, subcontractors and clients regarding our wider proactive approach.”
Mr Anwl said the North Wales-based firm currently has eight major live projects with a further four to begin in the coming months. He added: “The way we work both on site and internally has shifted in many ways.
“On site, for example, we have introduced external hand washing stations, staggered lunch breaks, segregated circulation areas and more. Thought and attention to detail is paramount but with careful planning we are achieving all of our objectives – moving forward we will undoubtedly introduce some of these changes long term.
“Thinking ahead, I believe the pandemic will fast track the movement towards modern methods of construction and we will see more demand for this approach, which our business already embraces.”
