Floating Earth has been created by artist Luke Jerram. It will be visible in the water at the Royal Albert Dock until May 18. It is expected to wow some of the 100,000 visitors expected to come to Liverpool for Eurovision which takes place on May 13.

The 10-metre work focuses on bringing people together, a nod to this year’s Eurovision theme – United by Music.

At the launch event, musical performances by local members of Rock Choir provided a soundtrack to the evening, with songs including Make Your Own Kind Of Music by Paloma Faith.

Floating Earth is set against the dock’s historic colonnades, creating magical moments at sunrise and sunset. The piece was also accompanied with a soundscape by BAFTA-winning composer, Dan Jones that further enhances the experience.
