New destinations add to the Venice route announced last month and means the low cost carrier now flies to 31 European destinations out of Liverpool John Lennon Airport. Tony McDonough reports
Low cost airline easyJet has announced three new summer routes out of Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) – Dalaman in Turkey, Palermo in Sicily and Pula in Croatia.
The new routes mean easyJet now flies to 31 destinations from Liverpool and is expected to fly around 20,000 passengers between Liverpool on the new routes next summer. They will operate twice a week from July 28, 2018.
Last month the carrier launched its new flight to Venice and has also announced this year an additional Airbus A320 aircraft to be based at LJLA for next summer – its eighth aircraft to be based at Liverpool.
In October, easyJet celebrated 20 years of operations at Liverpool and has carried more than 40m passengers on routes to and from Liverpool to date.
Ali Gayward, easyJet UK country manager, said: “This announcement highlights our commitment to providing affordable routes to summer holiday destinations. We’re sure that they will prove extremely popular with passengers.
“We have been committed to Liverpool Airport for more than 20 years. We are proud to have carried more than 40m passengers in that time.”
Paul Winfield, director of aviation development at LJLA, added: “We are delighted to see three exciting new destinations added to the Liverpool network with our largest airline partner. They are markets that will prove popular with passengers from across the North West region.”
