Lancashire-based Tawd Valley Developments marks what they describe as an ‘exceptional year’ having delivered record number of homes in the borough. Tony McDonough reports
Tawd Valley, the leading developer on the £200m transformation of Skelmersdale town centre, herald ‘exceptional year’ of progress and expansion.
The social-purpose developer, wholly owned by West Lancashire Borough Council, has achieved a number of key milestones in the last year, delivering 133 homes with a further 368 in the pipeline.
The company says the year represented a significant step-change in both its scale and strategic role, delivering a record number of homes while expanding its commercial development activity across West Lancashire.
Managing Director at Tawd Valley, Mark Kitts says that housing delivery remains a key focus for the firm, with an ‘ever-closer’ relationship with Homes England helping bolster its pipeline of new homes for the coming year.
He adds: “This has been an exceptional year, both in terms of delivery on the ground and in terms of laying the groundwork for future growth.
“We are immensely proud of our appointment as master developer for delivery of the Skelmersdale town centre masterplan.
“It’s a major coup for the business in only our sixth year of operation and reinforces our remit to improve both the housing and employment prospects for residents in West Lancs. We have made solid progress on numerous projects, which will see further opportunities for economic growth.
“Our focus on utilising local supply chains and using sustainable construction methods remains unrelenting.
“We have also delivered another year of profitability, our fifth year in succession.”

The company has also committed to creating more jobs in and around the borough following its appointment to deliver West Lancashire Borough Council’s accommodation strategy in April this year.
Staff will be transferred from the council’s current home on Derby Street in Ormskirk to modern facilities in the centre of Skelmersdale. Tawd Valley will redevelop the central Ormskirk site for residential use.
And the firm has secured seven further separate planning permissions, comprising a mix of housing projects across the borough, as well as the 100,000 square foot Junction 4 industrial and trade counter development on the M58.
Mark added: “This year has been a real team effort, with our supply chain, staff and non-execs all putting their shoulders to the wheel. I am grateful to them all and we can look forward to the coming year with optimism.”
