Liverpool environmental consultancy Carbon Happy World secures place on major framework giving it the chance to win public sector and university contracts. Tony McDonough reports
Liverpool carbon footprint measurement specialist Carbon Happy World has secured a place on a major public sector framework.
Carbon Happy World offers comprehensive greenhouse gas emissions management. It uses digital technology to collect and analyse carbon emissions data.
Its experts will calculate the carbon footprint of an organisation through a baseline year emissions audit, including supply chain, identifying the most carbon intensive activities. Then it formulates a net zero action plan.
Now the business has been accepted onto the TUCO (The University Caterers Organisation) three-year tendering framework for carbon footprint labelling on food and drink menus.
TUCO is one of the members of the UKUPC (UK University Purchasing Consortium) and they supply the public sector with procurement leadership and management within catering.
This framework serves as a trusted resource for UK public sector organisations seeking sustainable food procurement.
Through its Carbon Happy Cook app, Carbon Happy World empowers restaurants, cafeterias and food businesses to accurately calculate and display the carbon footprint of their menu ingredients and recipes.
This information allows consumers to make informed choices while fostering greater transparency and accountability within the food industry.
Gary Adlen, chief executive of Carbon Happy World, said: “We are incredibly proud to join the TUCO framework and contribute to sustainable food procurement across the UK public sector.
“By providing accessible and user-friendly carbon footprint labelling solutions, we aim to empower informed decision-making and accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable food system.

By adopting the Carbon Happy Cook app through the TUCO framework, public sector organisations can demonstrate their commitment to environmental responsibility while empowering consumers to make sustainable choices.
In January LBN reported that Carbon Happy World had joined forces with Liverpool and Chester law firm DTM Legal to slash its carbon emissions.
