Merseyside charities joined nominees from across the nation and TV celebs at Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral to celebrate the achievements of those devoted ‘equality, diversity and inclusion’.

Over 20,000 nominations and votes were received with ITV News presenter Charlene White and actor Richard Blackwood hosting the extravaganza. The EastEnders star said he loved the vibe in Liverpool and felt very honoured to be a host adding he believed it was “very important to recognise and acknowledge the achievements of Britain’s diverse communities within the mainstream arena.” The diverse line up of award presenters included Union J member Jaymi Hensley, Bridget Jones’s Diary star Sally Phillips, and Hollyoaks’ first transgender actress Annie Wallace. MiC LOWRY, touring with Justin Bieber in late September provided the entertainment on the night. Winners from the Merseyside area included Dr Sylvia Forchap-Likambi, the visionary founder and CEO of non profit community interest company Voice of Nations (VON), that has transformed the lives and status of disadvantaged girls and women from across the globe over several generations. |
