Interior design has become increasingly popular in recent years following a number of popular home improvement TV shows – but professional design services are still out of the reach of many people.

Now interior designer Jennifer Kay has launched a venture to make stylish living affordable for everyone.

The Mini Interior Design Company is a condensed online service making it inexpensive and convenient for everyone to use. The business dispenses with home visits, 3D drawings, sampling and high-end product recommendations, limiting the cost and time-span of the design process.

Ms Kay explained: “The client simply fills out the online questionnaire in regards to their chosen room and includes photographs. I then work with them to design bespoke room decor perfect for their taste, requirements and budget.

“The client receives a mood board (the room idea) and full shopping list that includes links to all suggested products – it’s a mini package.”

Following the birth of her son, Ms Kay was keen to start up her own business. As a qualified interior designer she had offered assistance to family and friends and that inspired the idea for the Mini Interior Design Company.

And with the help of Liverpool-based The Women’s Organisation, the business is now up and running.

She added: “I realised that lots of people desire beautiful home decor but lack creative flair and/or struggle with spare time. Full interior design services are perceived as a luxury and can also be costly and time consuming.

“My mission is to make interior design affordable and accessible to everyday people.”
