New £16m building for Archbishop Blanch School

The brand new £16 million Archbishop Blanch C of E School is ready to welcome students through its gates.

The start of this academic year marks an exciting new era for the school which has moved to a new site on Earle Road, Wavertree.

The impressive new building will provide a vibrant, modern learning environment and boasts a theatre, recording and dance studios together with state of the art sports facilities. For the first time in the school’s history, Archbishop Blanch now has its own on-site sports pitches.

As the only all-girls Church of England school in Liverpool, the dedicated school prayer room incorporates stained glass windows from the two founding schools, St Edmund’s College and Liverpool Girls’ College, to give a sense of history as well as a new vision.

The building also features a ‘Christian Values’ wall– an attractive display of words which embodies the school’s ethos.

Archbishop Blanch is one of 12 schools to be rebuilt under Liverpool City Council’s £170 Schools Investment plan, pledged by Mayor Joe Anderson.

The school was designed by Sheppard Robson and built by Willmott Dixon.

Head teacher, Heather Duggan says:

“At long last, our brand new school is complete! It is with enormous pleasure and pride that I welcome our students back to start the new academic year in a bigger, brighter space where we will continue to deliver first class education.

“Our new school will be a thriving hub; a centrepiece in the community and a building to learn and flourish in.”

Archbishop Blanch C of E School will be holding its official open evening for 2016 admission for Year 7s on Thursday 24th September at 6pm, where parents and prospective pupils will be able to visit the new school and see its first class facilities for themselves.
