Developer Fieldstone submits plans to build 90,000 sq ft Liverpool city region manufacturing facility and says it has an occupier lined up ready to create 300 jobs. Tony McDonough reports
A proposed 90,000 sq ft manufacturing facility could see the creation of 300 jobs.
Developer Fieldstone has submitted a planning application to St Helens Council for the building at Haydock Green. It is close to junction 23 of the M6 motorway and intersection with the A 580 East Lancs Road.
Discussions are under way with as yet unnamed potential occupier ready to create a manufacturing facility at the site that would employ around 300 people.
Fieldstone says it is unable to confirm the identity of the occupier, which at this stage is commercially sensitive. It adds it has been working with St Helens Council to secure the inward investment.
This planning application will be the third phase of development at Haydock Green. An initial 370,000 sq ft building was let to Movianto in 2019, whilst the second phase, Haydock 140, is now nearing completion.
Tim Webber, chairman of Barnfield Construction which is a joint venture partner in Fieldstone, said: “This is potentially a big coup for St Helens and it underscores the attractiveness of this exceptional site for both large-scale manufacturing and logistics operators.
“We have been grateful for the support we have received from St Helens and we look forward to sustaining that close co-operation during the planning process.
“Together, we are working to ensure a speedy planning resolution and a construction timeline aiming for completion in Q3 next year.”

As well as manufacturing space the building will also include office accommodation as well as parking space for cars, cycles, motorcycles, HGV vehicles and trailers.
Planning consultant Richard Gee from Roman Summer Associates, added: “It has been a brilliant effort from the client, our architects (Martin Spencer Architecture) and all our consultants to prepare and submit this application in record time.
“This is an exceptional building, and a development that will hopefully have a significant positive impact on the local economy.”
