St Helens Chamber has appointed Tracy Mawson as its new chief executive.

Ms Mawson, who has been deputy chief executive for the past nine years, takes over the role on September 1 from Kath Boullen, who will be retiring after more than 30 years with the chamber.

During her time at St Helens Chamber, Ms Mawson has led the business services department, and more recently the education and careers Guidance services. Prior to joining the chamber she worked as head of strategy for the North West Regional Development Agency.

“I’m absolutely delighted to have been appointed to the chief executive role. I truly believe in the work that the chamber does to make a real difference to the lives and businesses of local people.

“I’m very excited to take up this new challenge and hope to be able to continue our great work for many years. Over the next couple of months I will be working closely with Kath to facilitate a smooth handover and transition period.”

Ms Boullen, who has been in the chief executive’s role since 1998, said it had been a “privilege o have played a part in the success of St Helens Chamber”. She added: “The chamber does exceptionally valuable work to support the St Helens economy, businesses and people and I know it will go on to do great work with Tracy leading the way.”

Gary Charlton, chairman of the chamber, led the recruitment process. He said: “On behalf of the board I would like to welcome Tracy to her new role at the chamber and look forward to working closely with her in the years to come.”
