Better by Bus celebrates Catch the Bus week with free ticket giveaway

National Catch the Bus Week is teaming up with Liverpool City Region’s Better by Bus campaign to offer free ticket giveaways at five city destinations.

Catch the Bus Week is a nationwide campaign aimed at celebrating the benefits of taking the bus.

This year, it runs from July 3 to 9 with free ticket giveaways for new journeys across Liverpool City Region.

All three of the Better by Bus partners, Arriva, Stagecoach and Merseytravel, will be on hand with free tickets, advice on planning your journey and guidance on how to use their mobile apps.

The team will be at the following locations:

Monday July 3 – Williamson Square, Liverpool – 10am-4pm

Tuesday July 4 – Chapel Street, Southport – 10am-4pm

Wednesday July 5 – Church Square, St Helens – 10am-4pm

Thursday July 6 – Derby Road, Huyton – 10am-4pm

Friday July 7 – Catherine Street, Birkenhead – 10am-4pm

Cllr Ron Abbey, bus lead for Liverpool City Region’s Transport Committee, said: “People who already use the bus in Liverpool City Region rate it highly with 90 per cent overall customer satisfaction, making it one of the highest performing areas of all those surveyed by independent transport watchdog, Transport Focus. This is great news, but we want to encourage people who don’t catch the bus at all, or only rarely, to give it a go or use it more.”

Rob Jones, managing director at Stagecoach Merseyside, Chester and South Lancashire, said: “Better by Bus and Stagecoach is proud to be supporting the nationwide Catch the Bus Week campaign. We want to encourage people to think differently about how they travel and consider the bus for all types of journeys.”

Howard Farrall, area managing director – Merseyside at Arriva, said: “We wanted to use Catch the Bus Week to really promote the benefits of bus travel.

“Having an initiative such as the ticket giveaway is a great opportunity to entice the people of Liverpool City Region to give catching the bus a go whether it’s for mixing up your daily commute or taking the little ones on a day out.”
