Blue Arrow secures staff deal for Liverpool2 with Peel Ports
Blue Arrow recruitment group has secured a staff supply deal for Peel Ports’ operation at container terminals across Liverpool and Manchester.
Blue Arrow will supply more than 250 staff across a range of roles, including vessel stevedores, crane operators, and other support services. Staff will operate across both the container services and mooring operations at the Port of Liverpool and along the green highway of the Manchester Shipping Canal. This deal also covers the selection, training and development of more than 250 further employees to support Peel Ports’ new Liverpool in-river deepwater terminal.
Blue Arrow chief executive Mark Manaton said:
“Building on the initial success of the contract win, we are looking to partner with organisations such as the DWP and Mersey Maritime to build sector-based work academies to further develop the current workforce.
“This in turn will create opportunities for further employment in the local area in the coming months and years. As a 24-hour operation with a high level of customer service requirements, we really do understand the importance of appropriately skilled, dedicated and motivated staff ensuring that every vessel is unloaded and loaded to plan and on time.”
David Huck, port director at Peel Ports, added:
“The integration of the Blue Arrow team and operating platform at the Port of Liverpool and the Manchester Ship Canal container terminals has been successful.
“Following this, we now look forward to working closely with Blue Arrow in executing the recruitment plan for Liverpool2 and the customer added-value logistics solutions it will deliver to the region and wider economy.”
