The Brink to toast to a Drier January on Tuesday 13th

With Drier January well underway, Liverpool’s only dry bar The Brink is set to showcase a quirky Drop a Drink Size event tomorrow (January 13).

Between 1-4pm, the popular Parr Street social hub will see the return of the local recovery group Art & Soul, who will follow on from the success of the inaugural Drop a Drink Size event, which took place in November.

The afternoon will outline the potential health risks associated with alcohol consumption, whilst illustrating how ‘dropping a drink’ will also benefit the waistline. In true Brink style, the day will consist of a series of art performances, special guest speakers and an exclusive workshop for visitors.

Events Manager at The Brink David Barnicle said:

“Having hosted the launch of the Drop a Drink Size campaign, it gives us great pleasure to welcome Art & Soul once again for another thought-provoking production.

“To engage with visitors, the day will take a light hearted approach to tackling the over-consumption of alcohol via a creative means. Attendees will learn about the calorific content of their favourite drinks, understand how to keep track of units, and will also receive advice on how to cut down on empty calories to help adopt a healthier lifestyle.”

As the UK’s first dry bar, The Brink provides a range of non-alcoholic mocktails, smoothies and fresh presses – with new additions being added on a frequent basis. The revolutionary social venture, which opened in September 2011, also serves a selection of locally sourced fresh food and is renowned for its varied events programme.

David added:

“Drier January is all about cutting back on the units, with the hopes of achieving simple health benefits including less stress, increased energy levels and even weight loss.

“With alcohol consumption levels being at their highest over the festive period, a body detox is much needed. We hope that those wanting to obtain a healthier approach will enjoy our great assortment of forward-thinking non-alcoholic beverages, which prove that alcohol isn’t an essential ingredient when it comes to delivering a flavoursome refreshment.”
