Whilst the Brouhaha International Festival’s highlight is always the carnival, which took place in Liverpool in mid-July this year, there is so much more to the festival.

This continues both in Liverpool, Europe and the African continent throughout the summer.

This year performers from more than 12 countries around the world attended carnival and have been busy taking part in workshops in schools across the city educating Liverpool pupils on the performing arts based on their own unique cultures.

“Martinique, Zambia and South Africa were just three of the nation is represented as artists talk to the classrooms and gymnasiums of Liverpool schools to teach their art to Liverpool pupils,” enthused Giles Agis, executive director of the Brouhaha International Festival.

One performer, Bright, from Zambia, pictured with students from Childwall Academy said:

“It’s been a wonderful experience for me to pass on what I love doing as a performing artist and dancer. We had a lot of fun and it was a great interactive day for everyone involved, I’m already looking forward to coming back next year to do more.”
